As I began my 12th year of teaching at a new school district, I could have never anticipated what would happen next. We held meet the teacher on a Friday, and I got to meet my 19 wonderful students and their parents. On Saturday, Harvey hit and turned our little town and school upset down.
My students and parents are the most resilient people I know, and they inspire me everyday.
My school is K-3rd grade. With no school to return to, a church opened its doors and we began teaching there. We are a campus of excellent teachers and students that have proven to me that by pulling together we can overcome anything. I am thankful to be a part of such a great team!
My Project
I already know where this listening center will go in my classroom. All I need is your help to get it here. Your generous donation will help build the love of books that is so very important! This listening center will help my students by having everything easily accessible to them in one place. Listening skills are important in life. There is a difference between hearing and listening. We use daily five in our classroom. A listening center is one of the components of daily five that we are missing. Not much has been normal for my students this year after Harvey, and I just want to do everything I can to make my classroom an inviting learning environment. My students will be overjoyed to have this listening station!
