This is my 8th year teaching at OI and every year my scholars amaze me with their dedication, insight, humor, and desire to know more! This year's 8th graders are no exception.
The science classroom is a place where scholars are safe to ask questions, share ideas, and explore the world around them.
It's through their questions and investigations that they learn about physics, chemistry, genetics, and the environment. In our science classroom the learning doesn't end there. It's important that scholars see how science can be used to enhance their everyday lives.
Many of my scholars are involved in extra curricular service projects throughout the year and are in need of a computer to record these events. They need a computer to record hours they volunteer, create power points to present their work in the community, and share pictures of their work.
A computer designated for their community service work will increase scholar organization and ownership.
Scholars are expected to not only provide service to their community but also encourage others to help. The use of a computer will allow them to organize their work hours and promote service to their peers.
