Students who work on the yearbook and newspaper learn a LOT about sacrifice.

The time they give to our publications is time that they could have spent with their friends or at a paid job - and for a teenager in an area that's struggling financially, those are two huge sacrifices.

My Project

My students know all about pinching pennies. So when we were able to raise enough money to buy some inexpensive digital cameras, they were SO proud of themselves! Most of them do not have their own digital cameras, and when there's only one or two for a staff of thirty students, scheduling gets tricky. Without memory cards, though, each camera only holds 10-12 photos. Students have had to leave events early to save their photos to our computer. But the biggest complaint has not been the inconvenience, but a fear of missed photo opportunities!

The memory cards will make our new cameras even more useful than they already are, and the card reader and flash drive will allow them to save photos at the school's computer lab if our computer is waiting to be repaired.

Each year, these talented, dedicated students push themselves to "top" the previous year's work. Please help me give them the tools to do so.
