My Students

My students are in a new public charter school in an economically depressed part of our state. Many of our kids come here because they want to try something different and hands-on. Our school has a mentorship and internship program that every kid must be a part of. They all come from very poor areas where all they can do is keep their eye on the prize of a high school diploma, and try to keep the distractions from affecting them. Many of them, once they graduate, will be the first in their family with a high school diploma.

We focus on the economic and societal impact of our decision making and learn about how small changes can have a drastic impact on their lives and on the world overall.

My students are being taught economic entrepreneurship and how they can start with something small and watch it grow large scale with the right motivation, support, and economic understanding.

My Project

My students will utilize the laptop to present the class live to students at home and to create student impact lesson recordings. One student in a class will record the class lecture and projects and then answer questions posed by the students via zoom and google meets. Each student will be chosen from volunteers in the classes and then taught how to utilize zoom and google meets recordings. Students chosen will then be in charge of responding to the students at home asking questions during the live portion of the class. They will also post their own student notes taken during the class to the classes google classroom. These students will be considered student ambassadors and will help create the lessons students have and utilize at home from a student learning perspective.

The Laptop will be utilized for lesson recordings, student projects, as well as the live focal point for our physical students and virtual students to connect in class.

Any student in class wanting to learn how to utilize the laptop and become a student ambassador will be trained by the teacher. This system is meant to offer additional support to students and to make the lessons recorded for students to be student-driven and centered. The lessons, projects, and recordings will be done in the Economics, US History, and World HIstory class.
