My Students
I have a very fun and eager group this year! I teach at two different elementary schools, and work with children in Kindergarten all the way to 4th grade.
They are all eager to learn and get hands-on with instruments!
Unfortunately, many of my students are high risk and don’t have the resources to be able to obtain a music education outside of the 30 minutes a week I get them. That being said, that doesn’t stop them from loving and learning all about music!
My Project
3 out of 5 of my students didn’t know what a recorder was until I showed them. Our music program hasn’t included recorders in the curriculum in many years, and I want to bring them back! At the moment our access is limited, and most of my students come from families who just cannot afford to purchase their own.
I am hoping to bring this instrument back into my classroom this year.
Why not give students the opportunity to put music in their own hands! They will get basic music knowledge, reiterate all of the lessons we have been learning, and give them a sense of pride in the music they’ve created! Anything will help, and I’d love to see these kiddos play an instrument of their own.
