All of my students have been exposed to music, however in a very limited way. Due to budget cuts, our music department has suffered the most. Our district has four elementary schools but only two teachers to service both. I took over two of the schools this year, only to find many of the instruments and the rooms in such disrepair. Your donation will help begin to rebuild our music rooms and build a warm creative space for my kiddos to learn. Both of my classrooms are in portable buildings and the rugs will help to provide a fun classroom environment instead of the non school feel that it can have now. The seating cushions will help my wiggle worms be able to focus while learning the lessons and keep them from being a distraction to others. The musical lapboards will help ALL of my students while they are being little composers using the notes and symbols they are learning in class. Finally, I am asking for recorders. As low income schools, the majority of my students cannot afford to purchase recorders. While I have some, I do not have enough to supply every student which is why recorders, an integral part of music education, have not been taught in over five years. I would really like to give these kiddos the best shot at a great music education and instill a love of music in them all. Thank you for all of your help doing that!
