My Students

The students at our school are resilient and kind. The last year and a half has been a challenge for people all over the world, and the children in my class have faced those challenges with unbelievable understanding and flexibility. In addition to the pandemic, I have just taken over this class from another teacher whose medical needs have prevented her from being here for the last two months. Unfortunately, this has not provided these kids with very much consistency this year. We are also part of a low-income community, and many of my students do not have a comfortable place to feel safe and relaxed enough that they can allow themselves to focus on their academics.

Despite all of this, my students come to class with smiles on their faces and are eager to see what each day will bring them.

I am continually impressed with their exuberant energy and interest in whatever we're doing in class. My goal is to create a classroom community that is inclusive and comfortable for all students so that they have every opportunity to succeed and thrive!

My Project

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many things at school have changed, and recess is not immune to those amendments. Students are only allowed to play with their class and the equipment that their class provides. The room that I inherited came with a few jump ropes and no balls.

These students would benefit greatly from equipment that would help them stay active during recess while keeping them a safe distance from other students.

Many of my students play sports and want the opportunity to practice and play with their friends at school. I know they would be so excited to be able to play more games during their free time.
