This is the first year of our school. Four previous K-8 schools came together to form a 6-8 Middle School. It is as diverse as it can be! It is very racially and economically diverse (three feeder schools are Title I schools), plus lots of different types of learning needs.
Students are very excited to be together with so many other students their age and there is lots of energy roaming the hallways.
Now it's about finding what resources we are lacking as a brand new school and finding ways to provide it for our students.
My Project
The weather is starting to get bad and students need options of things to do indoors. We have about 300 students in each lunch/recess time that we need to keep engaged. We are a new school with very little resources and it would be nice to get community help with this.
Without these games or equipment they will find themselves restless and that's when behaviors problems tend to happen.
With options they will be able to pass the time in a positive way. This will also give them an opportunity to have fun and explore with new students, make new friendships and help build our school community.
