I am focusing on plot and character development using these texts. Students use a packet to track their reading and responses which follows them throughout the book. I teach a wide variety of reading levels in one class, so this project has allowed students to read at their level while focusing on a single skill. \r\n\r\nFor example, I have some kids who chose the book Uprooted. These kids are in reading support and have done very little work in my class all year. Suddenly, when they have a book that they are excited about and which is at their level, they do the work. When they are more engaged in class, their confidence goes up as well. It's very cool to see. At this time of the year, it's difficult to get students excited about anything. Thanks to your generosity, my students are reading and building their reading comprehension skills.","fullyFundedDate":1744234869372,"projectUrl":"project/fill-my-shelves-with-high-interest-books/9230829/","projectTitle":"Fill My Shelves with High Interest Books","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lepp","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5994306_orig.jpg?crop=638,638,x732,y53&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1744042147357","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/nativelit"},{"teacherId":1634747,"projectId":8927858,"letterContent":"Thank you for contributing to our project Students have already begun to explore the various tools we received for growing food indoors. pH meters, grow lights, mushroom-growing kits...everything is so interesting.\r\n\r\nWith the help of your donation, my students will start plants from seeds, care for them daily and enjoy the food they grow.
