Rebuilding our Special Education Program after the Camp Fire!

Help me give my students some of the hands-on materials they lost in the fire! It is our goal to make education accessible to all and with these materials we can help make that a possibility.

My Students

I am requesting materials to rebuild all our Special Education program at our Paradise Center which was completely destroyed in the in the Camp Fire. Our charter school​ serves almost 1,000 students in Butte County. We had 3 school centers, until the devastating fire took our beautiful Paradise center that served grades K-12, with around 30 students who qualify for Special Education services. As the Director of Special Education for our district, I am requesting materials for our students with special needs. We have 20 years worth of materials we used to support our special education students go up in flames. I am requesting materials so that we can continue to provide the supports these amazing students need.

My Project

The materials requested will allow our students with disabilities the opportunity to access education in the most effective and appropriate ways. Each student learns differently and needs materials to help them access that learning. The hands-on materials will help our learners who learn best with seeing and doing. The flexible seating resources help our students with sensory sensitivities. All materials are intended to support our students who need extra supports in academic, behavioral, and social/emotional areas.

The Camp Fire destroyed our entire school building and all of our Special Education materials and resources we had collected over the years to support our amazing exceptional learners.

Rebuilding our program with resources to help our special education students have equal access to learning is critical in their development and our desire to serve our students in the very best way possible. Thank you!
