My Students

There's a certain excitement in starting a new school year like meeting a new teacher, making new friends, learning new things and facing new challenges too. This is first grade, where aha moments, big ideas and new discoveries take place. I always strive to make learning fun with curiosity and exploration. My students can have such experiences and make memories through our daily interactions, but oftentimes our days are overtaken with assessments, worksheets, drills, etc. I want to change that by providing my students with meaningful daily activities.

My students help make up our Title I school.

We are a low-income community and our school offers free breakfast and lunch to the entire school population. My students need and deserve what I cannot give them by myself.

My Project

Students will use these materials in place of paper pencil activities at the start of their day. These activities will be used as part of our daily STEM stations. These fun, engaging activities will spark creativity and interest among students. They will get hands on opportunities and will have the chance to apply real world strategies when using these materials. These activities will build teamwork among students increasing important life skills such as communication skills and problem-solving skills. Students will be excited to experiment with new materials. They will develop new ideas, try out new strategies and be challenged to think critically every day.
