This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 4th grade students are energetic and hard working. They love to learn and interact with their environment, using a hands-on approach to learning. This group of students comes from a wide variety of backgrounds ethnically, culturally and financially. The majority of our students are bilingual. This year being online so far we have 2 classes combined so there are many more students with all different abilities.

Over 80% of the students in our school receive free and reduced-price lunch and are from low economic backgrounds.

I strive to give them opportunities they might not otherwise experience.

Fourth grade can be a real turning point for learning and developing for many children. They are still "little kids," but they are growing up fast, so it is important to keep them excited and interested in learning.

My Project

Keeping in contact with our students during distance learning is huge. Last year when we went into distance learning I was able to mail some cards and letters to students with extension activities and they loved it.

Getting mail delivered to a students is exciting enough, that the extension activities are an added bonus to keep kids motivated!

This is a great opportunity to keep in contact with our students and continue to build relationships even though we are only seeing each other through a computer screen! Mail is the way to go!
