Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are vibrant, excited, and ready to learn! I currently work in a Title I school where students come to school from many diverse backgrounds. Many of my students are English Language Learners and primarily speak another language other than English at home. My students live in an area of Phoenix which is educationally and socio-economically disadvantaged but through it all, they come to school ready to learn but are often far below their peers due to Specific Learning Disabilities and Developmental Delays. My students have shown perseverance, eagerness, and a positive attitude despite obstacles in their learning patterns.

With your help I can help my students reach new heights for the 2018-2019 school year.

My Project

Our students are in need of reading resources within our classroom that are at their grade level to target IEP (individualized education plans). They require a leveled library, sight word practice, magnetic letters for word work, and "Can Do" cans for the practice of skills in isolation during independent time.

Our students are working towards performing independently on state and standardized tests and continue to need support in reading to increase their scores and overall reading.

They need fun and interactive games to engage them and motivate them to acquire more knowledge. Our students would greatly benefit from many different resources.
