"If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn." -Ignacio Estrada
My students are active, hands-on learners who love sharing their experiences through writing!
After spending the morning in our Title 1 classroom, you would never guess that roughly 60% of the students are labeled "At Risk" and roughly 80% are considered "Low Socioeconomic Status." These students are resilient and outperformed the district in both reading and math scores this year. They amaze me every day.
My students need hands-on writing and grammar practice! However, they do not have enough games and activities to practice! They crave time in stations to put their skills and knowledge to the test.
Whether they are using a mentor text to practice different writing styles, using their grammar skills to revise and edit or creating their own essays as a writing expert, these tools will be instrumental in their growth!
My students will use these grammar cards and mentor texts in independent or group centers in order to get the extra practice they need to be successful. With these tools, they will have the extra time to work with real-life examples and master their skills to a deeper level.
