Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are always working on new projects and this time we want to work on science skills and our connection to the scientific world. All of this takes time and hard work. We look forward to a great year learning about simple machines, force, motion and having continuous labs in our classroom. They are ready for hands on science experiences to help them understand the curriculum. Being in a Spanish dual language setting, I rarely find material in Spanish but I can work with English kits and adapt them for my dual language students.
My student need to connect their lives to our science lessons and they need real life authentic experiences.
Having these science kits in our classroom will help strengthen their knowledge and open the doors for scientific experiences.
My Project
One area that my students have the most trouble with is connecting the text to the lesson. They need to review their notes in order to fully understand Force, Motion, Newtons Laws, and Matter. Having specific science kits at our fingertips will help them understand in both Spanish and English what is being taught. They can use these kits in centers, during different times in the lesson and anytime they need to review so they can better understand what they are learning in a real world situation.
The science kits and clipboards will help my students experience hands on science experiments and keep their lab notes organized.
The clipboards that I chose have rulers on the side which make it easy to measure in the standard and metric system. All the items chosen are helpful to the children while working in groups and in their science labs.
