My students are 6th grade writing, reading and history students in a public school in California. We have a range of students at all ability levels. They spend half of their school day in my classroom, so we vary our reading and writing activities to keep them engaged. Many students do not have access to engaging books that are current and connected to our subject content.
This creates an issue of equity, and this is where a complete classroom library with hands-on learning opportunities can make a world of difference.
All students need opportunities to engage directly, and these materials will make all the difference in their ability to develop and reward their reading, writing, and thinking skills.
My Project
These educational materials will improve our classroom by providing students the resources to give their highest quality work. Colorful post-it flags will be used to highlight important information and vocabulary they read, correction tape for mistakes, and books to teach about world holidays.
Students will be excited to use these materials, as well as expand their understanding of holidays around the world.
Providing students hands-on supplies is a win-win for everyone. These materials will make a difference in the quality of their work and their motivation to achieve, providing them the best materials to develop their reading and writing skills in our diverse classroom.
