This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are exceptional little learners who focus on practical academics and alternate education standards. While they learn math, reading and science, they also work in our school garden, and participate in cooking activities.
The students live in a low-income urban neighborhood.
The school receives Title I funding and all my students receive free lunch. All of my students learn a little differently but still work hard to master their goals. Working with students that have moderate to severe special needs allows me as their teacher to think outside the box to help them learn in the best way possible.
Providing my students with tangible learning manipulatives helps reinforce skills that are taught during the lesson. Each subject taught in the classroom is through technology, centers, and teacher time. It is important to allow students to have time to be creative with their hands to show their understanding.
My Project
These books will enhance our classroom library. Our students are currently virtual but they can come back for the second nine weeks! These books will allow my students to experience the world through stories. We will use these books for our read alouds every morning during our whole group meeting. We will read books for both virtual and face-to-face learning!
My students love learning about the world through our stories.
