My Students

Do you remember how much fun it use to be to show your parents and family members how smart you were when you were successful with something from school? These take home reading packs could give my students that feeling everyday when there family members work with them on these reading activities.

I am a first grade teacher at a title one school in a military town in NC.

In my classroom I have parents who are actively involved with the military and are very busy. One thing that my students do receive from their parents is excellent support from home. There parents understand how important education is and they want their students to be successful like they are. In order for me to make this happen, I want homework to be fun and involved for my students and parents. These reading practice packets could make this dream come true. Each night parents and students could work on fun activities that would help their reading skills to improve. These packs would also make sure my parents spend a little extra time with their students. In a military town, family bonds are extremely important because you never know what could happen. I want my parents to continue to support education and I think these take home packets would make this possible.

My Project

These resources would be an excellent addition to our classroom. Not only would it make planning homework assignments easier for me but it would make homework a fun family bonding time. These practice packets would also allow the students in my classroom time to spend practicing these skills with their brothers and sisters as well. Instead of watching TV each night families could sit down and work on a few of these fun activities. I think these kits would have many positive benefits for our classroom families.
