My Students
Fifth grade students are at such an awesome age. They have a wonderful sense of humor and become so engaged in subjects that interest them. In class we have at least two novel studies for the entire group, and I am always thrilled to see how excited my students become about reading. We also have Book Talks where classmates report on literature they have read.
Student are very creative in how they will share out; some choose to make 'Wanted Posters' of a character, or enjoy creating media presentations, or others just enjoy telling a favorite part without spoiling the plot. Fifth grade is a great time for reading adventures!
My Project
Reading impacts us throughout our life. Whether it is reading lab procedures in a science experiment, how to make our favorite recipe, or shopping for the next great outfit, students will need to understand clearly what is being stated. Great literature can help students develop key skills that carry them throughout their lives. But more importantly, the enjoyment of reading can take us on an adventure.
This selection of children's literature is a mixture of graphic novels, biographies, historical fiction, and award winning selections. My goal is to enhance my classroom library and offer a wider selection to excite students.
