My Students
I am a first year teacher at a Title I school. Many of my students receive free or reduced-price lunches, and often come to school without the necessary materials that they require and need. I try to provide students with the materials they require so they are not limited in class. All of my students are eager to learn and come to school excited every day. At home, many lack parent support and are often left to care for themselves.
I provide as much as I can for my students by purchasing materials on my own, but it becomes difficult because the cost ends up adding up to more than I can afford.
I want to continue to foster enjoyment for my students as they come to school!
My Project
My students need another class set of novels to read during the school year. My goal is to keep my students engaged, and I found that when students have their own novels, it helps with attention and assignment purposes.
Students have a hard time reading novels as is, but a mystery novel will draw them into their wonderful world of reading, analyzing, and breaking down text.
My hope is to do a minimum of one novel study a trimester, and I believe that students will really enjoy The Westing Game as one of their novels. After all, mystery is known to draw in readers. I hope to have my students at the edge of their seats while reading this novel!
