Help me give my students access to Accelerated Reader 360, an online program that motivates readers to set goals, while supporting comprehension and vocabulary development. This program serves our entire school population, Grades K - 6.

My Students

Our students are resilient and motivated learners. Unfortunately, many are at risk for reading failure due to poverty and the impact of Native and indigenous languages in their homes. We have seen the value of Accelerated Reader (A/R 360) as a means of differentiating, setting goals for individual students, and increasing reading stamina. The rewards we have offered in the past have proven to motivate the majority of students to increase time in text, with some students reading over one million words during a single school year, a remarkable feat given the educational hurdles present in our population. Due to funding limitations, our school is no longer able to subscribe to the A/R 360 program which provides quizzes, tracking, goal-setting procedures and word count. We are seeking funding to reinstate this valuable reading support for our students.

My Project

The A/R 360 program is a progress monitor for STUDENT reading goals and a management tool for TEACHERS to track reading levels and comprehension.

Fifty percent of our students are intensively below grade level in reading, compared to 33% district-wide.

Every teaching tool and strategy that increases engagement with text has great worth in helping our students overcome their academic challenges.

A/R 360 provides visual tracking for moving up in reading levels, gives instant comprehension results, and includes much-needed vocabulary enhancement, addressing this particular literacy need of our diverse population. The program also provides important information for facilitating student-teacher reading conferences.
