Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have 30 young men and women on our tennis teams this year that are committed to excelling in the classroom and on the court! The majority of our students are new to the sport but they come every day ready to learn, grow, and compete.
Our team is an amazing representation of our inner-city school as a diverse group that comes from all over the world.
Our students are all on free lunches and do not have the funds to afford the equipment needed to compete in tennis. They have a resilient spirit as they strive each day to grow in their understanding, knowledge, and skill. They love to challenge and push each other as they grow as a team.
My Project
Our tennis team is in desperate need of new ball carts to help transport our tennis balls to our courts. At our location, we are required to move all of our equipment from shared storage over to our tennis courts and back every day. Transporting each day has worn our ball carts out. Our welding program has welded our old carts as many times as possible but they are no longer staying together.
New ball carts will help us to GO back and forth each day as we transport our equipment.
The new carts are also at a height that will allow coaches to grab tennis balls easily and more efficiently to speed up the tennis drill process. We are also requesting agility ladders, cones, and medicine balls.
