My first-grade classroom is full of 25 boys and girls that are a thoughtful, loving, hard working, excited to learn and grow. While they are motivated by their dreams and engaged by the opportunities presented to them, due to economic challenges within the community, school, and district, our opportunities are limited at times. Even when faced with challenges and struggles of an inner-city and a high poverty school, they are excited to come in each day with a smile on their face ready to learn. As their teacher, I want to provide the students with not only a high-quality education but also, with supplies needed to be successful.
The room buzzes throughout the day as they laugh, sing, and share with their peers.
School is their safe place and I want to do everything I can to make sure they feel safe, important, and loved each and every day. As the students walk into the classroom, I want them to feel as if the room is a second home and a place where they can be welcomed and strive to the best of their abilities.
My Project
With a school year coming to an end means a new beginnings for others. My students will need folders, pencil boxes, glue, and dry erase markers to start the new school year in August.
Your donation will allow my students to be fully prepared to start first grade off right.
The students will use these supplies on a daily basis. The folders and pencil boxes will show the students that they belong and have a place to keep their materials, but also teach them responsibility for themselves in the classroom. Students will use the dry erase markers to complete math problems, practice spelling words and keep them engaged in all they do. Lastly, glue sticks are also, vital in a first grade classroom to show their artistic talent within all students.
