My students deserve the best! They are excited and determined to help me with this new project. My students are so fortunate to have a class set of Chromebooks to enhance their learning. They are motivated learners! This project is a great way to work together to problem solve our classroom issue.
We use Chromebooks daily to access web based programs and Google Classroom. I assign students to help me charge them; however, the cords become so tangled. Storing them at the end of class takes away from valuable learning time. My student, Kate, commented that it would be much more beneficial to have a charging station so that the Chromebooks would ready and charged for the next class. I completely agreed and told her I was happy to help her with this project. She worked with a few students from her class.
Over 50% of our school population receives free/reduced-price lunch and over 60% are minorities.
Having access to fully charged technology will help my students succeed without losing significant learning time. They will work together to systemize our Chromebooks. I am so proud of their effort and willingness to help our classroom improve.
In Their Own Words
The goal for this project is to get one charging station. We will be able to use the charging cart to keep the Chromebooks organized and ready to go! This will help my teacher with classroom management. So much time is spent squeezing the Chromebooks onto our tiny shelf so that they can be charged. Fully charged Chromebooks will allow us to explore our curriculum without any limits.
We helped Mrs. P. by researching the best type of cart for our Chromebooks. One student mentioned a cart that she saw in her Advisory class. She asked her for the name. We used our Chromebooks during class to search the Internet and determined that we would need one that would hold at least 25. In addition, we figured out that the cart had to be specific for Chromebooks. We will help Mrs. P get this project funded by spreading the word to family and social media.
Many times, our Chromebooks would die in the middle of a project. The charging station will keep the Chromebooks charged, safe, and ensure that they will be in good condition for years to come. This project is important because the Chromebooks will be helpful not only for us but for future students.
