This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Last year our students were captivated by the words of Angie Thomas. Author of "The Hate U Give," Angie just published her newest book, "On The Come Up."

Her style of writing, paired with the powerful and relatable stories she writes has allowed her to become the favorite author of many of our students.

Because we are trying to support our students love for reading and writing, we are here to ask you to support our newest project.

We would love to provide our students with brand new copies of this next book! Thank you!

My Project

Our students last year were captivated by the words and stories that Angie Thomas flawlessly wrote in "The Hate U Give."

Our students were able to see their own voices, stories, and experiences mirrored within the words of a character in a new book, and now, we have the chance to give them that same experience once again.

It is crucial for students to see themselves within the characters in books that they are reading. In order to build the skills necessary for our kids to become lifelong learners and readers, they must first build the love and adoration for reading in general.
