Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are very serious about band and most importantly they are committed to learning music. Our school is a single - gender comprehensive six-year academy enrolling approximately 600 students in grades sixth through twelfth. The school opened in the fall of 2007 and had its first graduating senior class in the spring of 2014. This is the first year for full time band program at the school. The students are very excited to become a part of history by helping to construct an exemplary all female band program in the region.

My Project

My band students have improved so much this school year. As we prepare for our band adjudication, we would like to perform at our very best. We are not able to purchase brand new instruments for every active student in the band program. But a step up mouthpiece is a great step in a new direction.

A step up mouthpiece will allow the students to perform at the highest level that they are able to.

It is important for students to have all of the needed tools to be successful in band and also life. This would be a help.
