Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At our Title I school, my students and I are faced with many challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the budget challenges we face, I am motivated to provide my students with an inspirational and exciting learning environment.
Many of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch and other services to help meet their basic needs.
Despite their hardships, they are eager to learn, and I strive to help them feel safe and cared for at school. They are at the age where they are curious and love to be hands-on and active in their education.
My students are challenged academically on a daily basis and are encouraged to use their critical-thinking skills and problem-solving skills. "Education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela
My Project
The young scholars at my school are supposed to wear uniform attire that consists of khaki pants, skirts, or uniform dresses. The purpose is to make it easier for the parents and for the students to feel more focused on academics since they look the part of a young scholar. I work with students that could be new to the country or they could be facing the hardships of low income. Our students are still children who can ruin their clothing and uniform items can be difficult to find or become a hardship for our parents to have to repurchase.
I want to provide clothing for the support staff at my school to help students and families in need of uniform clothing.
We are a large school that contains close to 900 students and we have so many needs; I do not want clothing to be a concern. The items in this project will help provide a small security blanket for the support staff at my school as they work towards providing the students with uniform attire. This time of the year there are many students that also grow out of their clothing or the clothes are tattered. This project will provide some students with uniform clothing so they are not embarrassed by tight or tattered clothing.
