Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently teach ESE students that are all diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual disabilities. My students require daily classroom accommodations designed to fit their sensory, individual and medical needs. This school year, I have transferred back to a former school I have taught at that services students that are from low income households. I am currently teaching students in the primary grade level K-2nd.

A few of my students have communication disorders and a few are nonverbal.

They rely on using effective communication boards designed and created by me to communicate their wants/needs or respond to questions about our academic content. My students require continuous assistance in different areas of their school day. With visual prompts, hands on manipulatives, and tactile learning materials I can make learning more accessible to them!

My Project

I will utilize the cleaning supplies to disinfect the classroom multiple times a day to keep the learning environment as sanitary as possible for the health of the students during a pandemic, as there is limited cleaning supplies provided to me at this time from the county. In addition, I will utilize the hands on materials to increase engagement during our math instruction and small groups. My students love edible reinforcers to motivate them to continue participation; so I will use the gummies as a reinforcement system! Thank you for supporting my classroom!
