My students are diverse, eager, and inquisitive. They come from varied countries, cultures, and speak different languages. They are very hard working and love to learn. They thrive in a challenging yet nurturing learning community.
My students enjoy authentic, hands-on, engaging projects.
They love to be able to share new learnings with each other and at home. As children of the 21st century, they need to be able to think outside the box in an ever-changing world. My students are up to the task!
My Project
Most of my students have been learning from home for the past 2 years. This has meant that many of them have had limited choice in what books they could read. I would like to have books for them that will hold their interests and keep them reading in my classroom and at home.
Graphic novels are a great way to engage struggling and reluctant readers as they learn to read for enjoyment!
Everyday, my students ask for copies of Dogman, Dragonbreath, and The Bad Guys. So I asked my students to provide input into what they wanted to read. This collection can be used by students both during their independent reading time and also as a supplement for reading at home when Media books are unavailable. These books will allow my students to build confidence and get into the "habit" of reading.
