This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hardworking goal-driven individuals. Despite the financial challenges they face coming from a district made up of low-income students, they still try their best every day. Some of my students struggle to even get the basic supplies for school such as binders or paper. As a teacher, there is only so much I can do. I feel like my students have so much potential but they need the right tools to guide it.

Regardless of the challenges, I still have high expectations for my students.

My goal is to educate students to be productive citizens and to rise above their circumstances.

My Project

As a fourth-grade writing teacher, my students are always working on compositions. We go over the writing process to become better writers and readers. My goal is to prepare my students to be able to compose multiple texts that are legible and use appropriate conventions.

I want to provide my students with a reading/writing corner.

I believe that having a comfortable space will motivate my students and help them get their thoughts flowing. Furthermore, having them work there in their journal or composition will help them practice the writing process and overall become better writers and readers.

I am asking for stress reliever balls because some of my students get a writer's block when they are writing their ideas and need a way to channel that anxiety.
