The best part about being a teacher is seeing those smiling faces walk through the door every day. These children come to school filled with happiness and excitement about what the day has in store for them.
Our school is in a lovely, small town and our student population is approximately 415 children.
Being in such a small town allows our school to get close to the community. With tons of community support, our students have the most amazing and inspiring school district to be in! We believe all children are unique individuals and strive to do our best for their best.
My Project
First grade is a milestone year for little learners. We work extremely hard to develop strong skills in reading, writing, and phonics.
This is the year where we try to foster and develop the passion and love for learning!
In order to do that, first graders need an environment that is fun and engaging and meets their needs as readers and writers. It would be so great to have a space for learning that helps them develop the skills needed for reading and writing that continues on in the years to come. Chairs that are easy to relax in will help the children feel more at ease when reading their favorite books or working on their latest piece of writing. Flashlights are to help us look closer at words in our books and the words around us to study and observe how words make up this wonderful world we live in! Dry erase markers with erasers attached make it easier for us to practice writing words that we know, new words, and even sentences to develop our writing skills. Lastly, the rolling cart will store all of the materials needed to practice these skills. It is easy access and mobile for use ANYWHERE in the room!
For the love of reading, writing, and phonics, these amazingly special first graders need these materials! With the right tools, anything is possible!
