This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a high poverty neighborhood who face more challenges than the average student. Even though they may be at a disadvantage, these students are hardworking, determined students who not only deserve the best but they WANT the best. It is a joy to teach these students because you really feel as though you are making a difference!

Our students are comprised of many diverse ethnic groups.

Students who attend our school with a diverse population can develop an understanding of the perspectives of children from different backgrounds and learn to function in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment. Yet, due to the diverse populations, demands increase to find the most effective ways to help all students succeed academically as well as learn to get along with each other.

My Project

One of the biggest and most exciting changes I have seen during my teaching career is the increase of technology in the classroom. Our school district is requiring our classrooms to become increasingly tech savvy. As a result, I find myself scrambling for ways to integrate more technology into my lesson plans.

Technology integration in the classrooms involves the use of computers and other electronic devices.

It helps to motivate students and allows them to learn and share their understanding in fun and unique ways. When used properly, technology can be a tool that enhances and reinforces the curriculum.

I currently have six iPads for the students to use during our reading center time. They need headphones to be able to concentrate on what they are reading. In addition, I need a portable disc drive in order to share CDs and DVDs I have in order to enhance my teaching.
