Help me give my students a variety of instruments. The egg shakers, rhythm sticks, & sound shapes will help us integrate music into our ELA lessons with rhythmic retelling, movement with poetry, & engaging call & response activities.
In my school and in my classroom, I seek to foster leadership among motivated engaged students! My amazing first-grade students come from a wide variety of socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. I have students who are in the gifted class, talent development class, Early Intervention Program, ESOL, and some who receive accommodations with IEP's (Individualized Education Plan).
My first-grade students are very motivated by kinesthetic movement, music, and experiential learning.
I have a variety of learners that require different approaches to instruction due to the wide range of academic achievement levels. I am excited to help provide my students with the opportunity to enjoy learning experiences available through music and language, bringing us all together as one team of learners.
My Project
Arts integration in the classroom provides students with experiential learning that is engaging and academic. Our school is working towards arts integration with our ELA and reading programs. Having a collection of primary musical instruments will help us connect rhythm, steady beat, and expression with our academics studies.
Music can help students express their understanding of academic concepts through a creative pathway.
Students can work with rhythmic story retelling, letter and word recognition with a steady beat, reading of poetry with musical instruments and developing our social time with the morning meeting greeting and music.
Incorporating the arts helps ensure that the needs of different types of learners are met. Rhythm and reading can be active, expressive, collaborative and most importantly joyful!
