My Students

Our multi-age classroom is a community of learners and growers. We spend two years with our students, guiding them and watching them blossom. We emphasize working together and being a community. Each student helps one another and learns in the best way, by teaching.

Our students are an amazing and diverse group of third and fourth graders.

The difficulties these students face are sometimes unimaginable. School is often their comfort place and provides food as well as stability and shelter. The school is Title I funded. Our classroom is like a community and we want the students to feel comfortable and safe to learn.

My Project

I am in a multi-age classroom with a team teacher and forty-five 3rd and 4th graders. We pride ourselves on classroom community and team building. We are in need of new carpets for our classroom. Carpets are a very instrumental tool in our classroom. We are a very active classroom, meaning our students move around our double classroom all day. We do whole group teaching and learning on the carpet, not at tables and desks. A comfortable place to sit and learn is very important in our daily classroom environment.
