My students need a set of reading and writing stations, a comprehension games library, and other reading activities that will keep them engaged in their learning.
"You can't stop a teacher when they want to do something. They just do it." J.D. Salinger.
A normal day in my classroom is filled with lively, high-spirited, bouncy 6, 7, and 8 year old kids. One of my biggest challenges as their teacher is to keep them actively engaged in the learning process.
My school is a Title 1, low poverty school.
Many of the students from my school come from low-income households. The children want to learn and are filled with questions. It's my job to keep them engaged in the process of learning. My students need activities to keep them enthralled, interested, and curious about the world around them. The teachers and staff are very dedicated professionals who put their heart and soul into each and every child. I know that these materials will help further that love of learning and make my kids excited to come to school!
My Project
The objective of the project is for students to practice the skills, lessons, ideas, and concepts outlined by the curriculum. With this practice, students will become more successful and begin to master 2nd grade skills. The set of reading and writing stations, a comprehension games library, and other reading manipulatives will be used to differentiate instruction, learn new skills, and reinforce and add skills to the students growing vocabulary and reading comprehension. Throughout the year, the manipulatives will be used for hands-on discovery and exploration. This is often done in a small group setting working with other students. Also, the manipulatives will be used as an introduction tool to concepts that are unfamiliar to new 2nd grade students. These tools will often be used as a small group interactive lesson with students manipulating the objects themselves.
I have learned that kids tend to be hard on things so we need durable materials for them to use.
They also need physical objects to see, touch, and explore, and these resources will provide hands-on activities that will engage them! We appreciate anybody who may be willing to help out our classroom. It may not seem like much, but you never know when a future leader is sitting in my classroom. Thank you for considering a donation to my kids and their futures!
