Reading Tote Bags!

Help me give my students summer reading tote bags, motivational prizes, and window shades to get ready for the summer!

My Project

The tote bags will allow my students to borrow various reading materials from the public library to read over the summer. Research has shown that children who do not read over the summer will fall back on their reading. Thus it is imperative that students read during the summer. By the end of the school year, all students will have public library cards to use for borrowing materials. Parents will be encouraged to take their children to the public library weekly to borrow books, magazines, and eBooks. The public library will have a summer reading program with a list of suggested books for students going to third grade to read. Students can use the tote bag to store their reading materials. Students can take their reading tote bags with them wherever they go. Therefore, students will always have access to books to read. The pens and prizes will be added incentives for my children to read during the summer. In addition, students will personalize and decorate their tote bags with fabric markers! The window shades will block the glare from the sun in our classroom when we use our Promethean board.

Your donations to this project will allow my students to have the resources necessary to read over the summer and maintain their reading level for third grade.

My second graders have worked hard all year to improve in all academic subjects. My goal is to motivate my students to continue reading, writing, and practicing math skills during the summer.
