My Students

We have access to literature through classroom libraries and leveled texts in a shared "book room,” but sometimes our selection is limited when you’re looking for a lesser-known or under-utilized book.

Our school families choose to apply and gain enrollment through a lottery.

We serve students from K-8 who come from all over the county. Their needs are as diverse as their backgrounds, interests and experiences.

I have the pleasure of teaching 38 delightful, vivacious fourth graders who are passionate about reading. They are imaginative and funny, as well as motivated and eager to learn. Not only are my students voracious readers themselves, but they also love when I read with them.

My students are always hungry for a good story. They love characters and scenarios that they can relate to, and they love discussing what they are reading with each other. Their passion for reading is contagious - and it's exactly why I love teaching ELA!

My Project

Earlier in the year, we completed a unit on character analysis using Louis Sachar's book, There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom, and my students LOVED it! I would like to use another one of Sachar's books, Sideways Stories from Wayside School, for a book club so we can compare similar themes in both stories because they are written by the same author. In order to do this, I need a class set of this text.

My students are hungry readers, and I know this will be another text that they will devour.

When we read and analyze this text together, we will grow our love of reading.
