My Students

My students and families are so amazing. I want to give them the best classroom environment I can, with flexibility along with student choice and voice. I teach almost 60 active 5th grade middle school students.

"If you want children to sit still, you have to let them move," stated Loren Shlaes in Minds in Bloom.

They come in everyday ready to learn and their energy inspires me each and everyday. They are 21st century learners and I cannot wait to see where life takes them!

My Project

This collection of SPIRE books will help me provide targeted support for my struggling readers. I am trained in Orton-Gillingham which means I have a strong background in phonics and supporting my classroom readers. I have a few of these books from when I taught in the Elementary School but now I need the higher levels to support my Middle School students. They will bring a higher level phonemic awareness to our classroom. A strong understanding of phonics is so important when developing lifelong readers. I want to make sure my students have a strong understanding of phonics when they head to sixth grade.
