My students need read-a-loud books that will teach core concepts in science, grammar, and character education.

My Students

Many of my students do not have learning-rich environments at home, but they do love to learn!

My students are from low income families.

As a result, they often do not have high-enriching experiences outside of school. But, they do love to learn! My students especially love reading and learning about Science topics. They soak up information when it is presented in non-fiction books with vivid pictures.

My Project

I am requesting books! I want science read-aloud books to teach my students the common core 1st grade science standards. My students learn well through read-a-loud books with vivid pictures. We will read the books and do science research together as a class. The research we conduct will be transferred into expository writing lessons. I am also requesting a few books that teach grammar skills and a few books teaching character education skills. We will use these books to learn about the English language and to learn essential character building skills.

Supporting this project will help to cultivate the love of learning and reading in my classroom.

My students love informational text with vivid pictures! The books I have chosen will help me to teach the common core standards and will help ignite a passion and love of learning in my students!
