Reading Through WWII

My students need engaging novels that will help teach our WWII unit in Social Studies, while still being able to use the novels to teach ELA and reading.

My Students

My students are a very energetic bunch! I teach both social studies and reading to two groups of amazing students!

My students love to read!

They even sometimes get in trouble with other teachers for reading instead of paying attention!

My students are also disadvantaged because we are a title I school. I'm trying to give them the best because they deserve it! I want to instill in them the passion of reading so that they can travel to far off lands!

My Project

This project will help my students not only with reading but with learning about WWII. I want my students to be able to travel through time to learn about the horrendous acts of WWII and the great courage some took facing that adversity.

These books will be used to not only help develop reading skills but also help develop skills for social studies, as well as helping the students develop empathy.

Overall, I believe these books will change the lives of my students and help them to make emotional connections to history. This is going to be a heavy topic, but I know that my students will be better people after reading these books.
