Most of these students are now adults who graduated high school. I am touch with a great many of them, and they will still sometimes tell me about the books that they read!\r\n\r\nMy favorite part of doing this book club was getting to talk to students about books outside the context of the classroom. At first, it was a little awkward! Students don't always have the opportunity to talk about books for fun. Once we worked out all of those kinks, we were able to talk about the characters more like they were people we knew, and less like a formal classroom talk!","fullyFundedDate":1532280264870,"projectUrl":"project/project-lit-book-club/3361841/","projectTitle":"Project LIT Book Club","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lewis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3029406_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1449440856645","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/loni-lewis"},{"teacherId":9351396,"projectId":9569844,"letterContent":"The students have been so excited to see their work on color! Students appreciate the certificates, brag tags, and love being celebrated. \r\nThe pride in their work has increased immensly. Students are excited, not only to show other students, but want all of their teachers to see their hard work. As a teacher, it brings tears to my eyes that students want to share and explain their work. \r\nOne of the projects my students have completed using the printer is a Children's book. I asked my students to become the teacher. Using their research and knowledge of the unit, to create a book to explain how a Genetic disorder is inherited. These books are amazing! Their eyes shown with pride when the students saw them printed out in color. It truly was a domino affect. Once one was printed, everyone wanted to see their work as well. They wanted it to be the best. I can't even begin to explain the intense work these students did. \r\nThis printer was used by all. There was equity, students that had to previously pay didn't give up because they didn't think someone else's project would be better just because it was in color. The printer has truly leveled the playing field. Students are excited to complete projects. It's amazing the immediate impact one printer had.","fullyFundedDate":1757548834856,"projectUrl":"project/printables-with-purpose-supporting-ever/9569844/","projectTitle":"Printables with Purpose: Supporting Every Learner","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Knighton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9351396"},{"teacherId":249487,"projectId":9642169,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donations to fund our project, You are the reason we are able to bring meaningful learning experiences to our students.\r\n\r\nThis project is allowing all of our math students in grades 6 - 8 to work in collaborative groups to graph points, ordered pairs, and manipulate transformations on the coordinate grid, an important skill that our data shows our students need additional practice in.\r\n\r\nWorking together in collaborative groups is helping our students to deepen their understanding and clarify misconceptions of these skills.
