My Project

The items in this project will create a culture for learning when we read the novel Swing by Kwame Alexander with Mary Rand Hess. Decorating the classroom with baseball decorations and being able to share baseball books with students will enhance the learning experience for students.

Our goals for reading Swing, are to have students explore themes of patriotism, racism, and sense of self.

The items in this project will support the expressions of these themes in the novel through visual effects in the classroom. Students will be exposed to the world of baseball, which many of them do not know much about.

Exposing students to more information to enhance their learning experience provides a richer environment and personal level of learning. This project will be the foundation for their learning.
