This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Kindergarten is such a magical grade because it is where most kids learn how to read. They take their knowledge of letters and sounds and start to blend them together into words. After reading a lot about Science of Reading-based instruction, I want to make sure I am teaching kids how to read in the most explicit way possible.

Small group centers are one of the most important parts of Kindergarten.

It gives teachers the chance to truly differentiate their instruction and teach kids the exact skills they are needing. Centers are one of my most favorite times of the day because I get to see 4-5 kids at a time and work on explicit literacy skills. I know exactly where the students are (academically) and what skills they need to keep growing as readers!
