I am a second-grade teacher. I have a wonderful group of students! They are constantly impressing me with their hard-working attitude, amazing work ethic, and overall positive outlook on life. I am so proud to be their teacher. They deserve the best education possible.
I teach at a rural, Title I school, serving approximately 300 students.
Every child receives free breakfast and lunch. We are located near a large military base and as a result, serve children of active duty and retired military. Our students are bright and eager to learn new things. They are hard workers and strive to make their world a better place.
My Project
This project would benefit my students in many subject areas: Math, reading, and Science. I am especially excited for this project to fund for that reason. For Math, my students will be able to get fun bingo games to reinforce their math strategy skills such as doubles/near doubles, making a ten, and so forth. The science sets will help give my class more hands-on materials and books for our two biggest science units: weather and life cycles. The books will help my students in guided reading learn various skills such as determining the main idea, summarizing, making inferences, and finding key details.
This project will benefit my students immensely in many subject areas.
I find these items to be invaluable to my students' academic success. Because we are a Title l school, funds are often limited for needed supplies and resources. This project will help ensure that my students build math fluency, strong reading comprehension skills, and learn more in-depth about the two biggest Science units we cover in 2nd grade.
