Reading Rug

My students need a rug that they can sit on and enjoy in our reading area of the room. I want to foster a love for reading and this rug will help so much!

My Students

As a first year teacher, it is hard for me to afford everything that my students need.

My students are passionate about learning.

I teach grades K-5, so I have a range of different levels and students daily. I also work with a variety of English Language learners who are learning how to read. Our school is a very nurturing campus, but not every student comes from a loving home. When they are in the classroom, their positive attitude helps me to give them my best every day, and to really love being in the classroom.

My Project

If given this rug for our reading area, my students would have a place to go when they want to go and enjoy a good book. We are currently trying to implement the Daily 5 reading routine in my classroom, and this would be a perfect addition to the room. I want students to have a comfortable place to go when they need to take a break and just want to read.

Adding this rug to the room would help with being able to provide students a reading area that they could make their own, and hopefully fuel a love for reading.

It is my goal that students will want to turn to a good book instead of the TV or iPad when they need to escape from life.
