My Students
I teach in a school that is very diverse - over 30% of the students are English language learners and 90% of the students are Black, Asian, Hispanic, or identify as two or more races. Almost 80% of the school population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch.
My goal is for all students to feel welcome in our classroom and also to see themselves and their backgrounds reflected in their learning. My students come to school each day ready to learn and engage in the world around them. My students are curious, passionate, and problem solvers who are ready to grow and learn each day.
I personalize learning in my classroom through the use of flexible seating, books that provide windows and mirrors for students, technology, and student voice and choice.
My Project
After the last year and a half of school being far from normal, we need an extra boost in our reading! 2nd grade is a big year for students to fall in love with reading. Things often start to "click" in reading in 2nd grade.
Help me give my students books that are exciting and engaging! These books will be in our classroom library for students to check out and fall in love with. These books will play a crucial role in helping us grow in our reading this year!
