My Project

My fourth graders are an energetic bunch who can go from debating the funniest book character to calculating how many “Reading Bucks” they need for their next brag tag! They’re curious, enthusiastic, and love when learning feels like a celebration. I want to channel that excitement into a system where they can proudly display their growth as readers and future financial whizzes.

I am requesting reading brag tags that recognize accomplishments while encouraging students to save for what they want.

Picture this: one student finishes a long chapter book and earns a Yoda tag, while another saves enough “Reading Bucks” to purchase the full Sunshine State Reader set. To my students, these aren’t trinkets—they’re badges of honor.

Brag tags will motivate students to read more while practicing budgeting and goal-setting. They’ll earn “Reading Bucks” for words read, books completed, and new genres explored, then decide whether to spend right away or save for a bigger goal. Along the way, they’ll see that in both reading and money, small steps add up to big achievements.
