Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Day to day I teach children ranging from the ages 5-13. As an early literacy tutor as well as an after school care provider, It is my job to make sure that their literacy skills are up to par to their reading level. Our tutoring program also partners with a dual language literacy organization, many of my students' first language is Spanish and other tutors help with the Spanish language learning.

Seeing around 45 students a day I want to make sure all of them are encouraged to read fun and engaging books that will blossom their love for literature.

I want them to be encouraged to work their hardest and make sure they have the materials possible to learn. For my Spanish speaking students, I want to nurture their Spanish skills and grow their “English brain” we call it here!

I also threw in some drawing books for my older kids, fascinated with nature and its alluring creatures. I noticed how my students loved to talk about different kinds of bugs, animals, and monsters! So I decided to
