Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a low-income area and have a large Native American population as we are in the heart of many different tribal lands. Our schools also have many English learners and many migrant families. I strive to build strong relationships with all my students as they are my second family. I adore them and want nothing more than to see each and every one of them succeed!

My students go the extra mile and strive to be the greatest they can be!

This year has been a strange one and one that will definitely go down in history. Students this year have been confined to their "personal space" and hiding behind their masks. Students really need to engage in social interaction and find a love of learning.

I want my students to know they are safe at school and that I am a person they can trust and confide in. For many students, school is their only constant. If this year has taught me anything, it's that students need school and they need their teachers. I have been taken into the homes of many of my students virtually, and they all deal with way more than I ever imagined.

My Project

I always try to reward my students in the classroom. This year my focus is not only to get my students to read but to get them to LOVE reading. I have a lot of fun contests for them- with their own growth- not comparing them to others. I would like to give them little trinkets when they meet their own goals and when they track their own growth. Each of the rewards from pencils to fidgets would be offered when they meet a certain percentage of their own goal.
