My Project
A book can take you to places unknown. Reading is a journey that will introduce the reader to many new experiences and open a world of possibilities. There is a thing known as the reading gap. This is the space between actual ability and projected ability. A huge reason for this gap is exposure to different texts. Not many students in my class has access to books that expose them to various topics, words, and experiences.
My project is to enhance my classroom library with diverse literature.
These books will be used for shared reading with a focus on the vocabulary building and for independent enjoyment. My goal is for students to look at reading as a positive thing and not just a check off the list task. I want students to be engaged and have reading stamina. These books are all outstanding examples of literature that are needed in my class to accomplish this goal.
